Site of a trading town established in 1697, Colonial Dorchester State Historic Site encompasses 325 acres of land, including the well-preserved ruins of many structures that were once central to the settlement. Still visible above the ground are the remnants of St. George’s Anglican Church's belltower and the fort built in town in 1757, and informational signs and a walking trail help illuminate the story of the village. Located next to the Ashley River, the site is about 15 miles northwest of Charleston.
Open daily 9:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
